Using Windows 10 Home
I was disgusted to discover today that on 11/02/21 Microsoft installed an app I've never heard of called "Windows PC Health Check." Of course, this was installed without my consent, even though I've always had my settings to NOT install anything without my knowledge. I've searched this forum but haven't found any current information about this app or why it was installed.

Is it worthwhile to keep? If so, where can I find instructions for use? BTW I use Revo Uninstaller Pro 4.5.0.

TIA for any information.

It's an app to check whether your computer has the hardware necessary to upgrade to W11.

Important By default, when you open the PC Health Check application, it will automatically install important application updates when they become available. PC Health Check users will not be able to turn off automatic updates.

You can uninstall PC Health Check by going to Apps > Apps & Features > App list (Windows PC Health Check) > Uninstall.

Thanks, Gary R. Now I know why. After reading the article, I doubt that my computer will qualify. BUT I don't know if I want Windows 11 anyway. I don't have time to research it right now--maybe in a few months. AND I don't want to buy a new computer yet.

You're welcome.

Personally I find the title of this App to be a little deceptive, and would tend to lead people into believing that its purpose is for something different than the one which it actually performs.

IMO it should be given a name that better describes its function.

I found the title to be VERY deceptive. In fact, I thought it might be a scam. That's why I didn't try the app before posting here to ask for information. I'm also very unhappy that it installs Windows updates automatically, so I will definitely be getting rid of it. Thanks again, Gary, and thanks, Corday.

CAVEAT: If you don't want automatic downloads and installation of Windows Updates, X out the app after it tells you the status for Windows 11 meeting your computer requirements.

Personally I uninstalled it as soon as it had confirmed that my machine was W11 compatible. That way my wife, who also has access to the computer, could not activate it by mistake.

There have been reports that some people have had it re-install after they've uninstalled it, so there's an article at BC that describes how to prevent that occurring ..... Microsoft is force installing PC Health Check in Windows 10
