I have know idea what this is and trying to figure out what it's for. The only connection is a male serial part with no other inserts to go in/out of it. I found it in my pile of old pc parts and wires that I've collected over the years and friends gave me. I don't even remember putting it in there.

The round black thing in the picture is just plastic.
