Just downloaded PCWizard the other day, What a program!! It tells you absolutely everything without having to hunt through sytem files or anything else.
As I am a new user of this app, Im a bit confused as to what the line pointed out in the picture below means...

Is it referring to a CPU control setting (ie in BIOS) that can be altered, or does it mean completely locked and therefore unsuitable for overclock??

yes it is locked by intel
this cpu o/clocks well from what i have read one of the o/clockers will tell you how

When the multiplier is not locked, like in the extreme edition cpu's for instance, you can get some extremely good overclocks.

They still overclock well with the locked multiplier though.

locked multipliers dont stop you from overclocking ! all cpu's except the crazy expensive ones have locked multipliers at the upper end, they will both overclock to the same height, just the unlocked version makes it a little easier

???????? I wasnt accusing anyone of having said so ? its actually a common misconception which I was merely trying to clarify.


HOWEVER: the OP did have a concern / fear that he couldnt overclock his processor?

Next step is to get some mild increase in the CPU. I dont want much, just anything more than stock is adequate. Thanks guys (& possibly gals??? I can never tell...lol):wink:
