I tried to connect two disk drives to "Compaq Evo D510 ePC" (Win2000). I placed the jumpers incorrect, and the system didn't recognize Western Digital WD204EB disk correctly. It was shown as 'Unnalocated" in Device Manager. OS asked if I want to connect it. I chose "Yes" but then there was an error. When I restarted computer, it didn't boot and showed a dialog "HDD locked, enter password (5 left)". There are no passwords enabled in BIOS (I think).
In another computer the disk is detected by BIOS, but the device manager does not detect it. DOS Fdisk does not detect any partitions either.
There are important data in that disk. How do I get it back?

Welcome to the forums Chaos enjoy your visits........:D

Does the message say that the system is locked or that the drive is locked? You can unlock a drive by booting from the startup disk and then key this in at the A: prompt:
unlock <drive letter>:
and press ENTER key

For instance, if it's C drive that's locked, at the A: prompt you would key in:
unlock C:
and press ENTER key
