Hi gang............my computer went a little screwy today. I shut it down after the kids were on it as we were leaving the house. Started it right back up(fogot to print something)and while on the Windows splash screen during boot up.....the hard drive(i think) started to make a weird noise. It sounded if it were playing a beat or rhythm. Then a dos screen came on and said unable to read drive C. I did a hard boot, and tried to get into safe mode, but again, the cpu was making this strange rhythm. Its the normal noise (clicking wirring etc) as a computer would make during startup, but to a distinctive and repetative beat. Even in safe mode it would not find the HD. for the last week it has been running slow.......I tried a virus scan, spybot scan the other day, but did not detect any corruptions.
HELP. :4-dontkno

hi walleye,

whenever you get a chance backup all of your important data. then go to the manufacturer's website of your hdd and download the diagnostics utility for your hdd.

then bootup with it, follow the on-screen instructions, and test your hdd for any errors.

another thing you can do is too change the hdd cable and see if the problem could be the cable, kinda doubting it though since the noise is coming from the hdd.

test your hdd with the diagnostics utility and see if you have errors on your hdd. good luck
