I have an issue with a piece of hardware - I'm hoping someone might have a suggestion on how to deal with it. We have a hardware device ( a telephony device), but the telephone side of the device is not the issue - the networking side is the problem. This device is connected to the customer's network, and it communicates with our servers every few minutes. We have a few demo units at customer locations as we test the device. The device will work well for days and even weeks, then will suddenly begin losing it's connection to the customer's network - but on a schedule, so to speak. For example, we'll reboot the device at 9pm. At 9:30pm, it will lose its connection to the network (it connects to the customer's router via dhcp, which is a requirement - no static IP). Or we could reboot the device at 10pm, and it will run properly until tomorrow night at 9:30, when it loses the connection to the network again. We have a device that ran properly for weeks, and now has had the network issue 8 nights in a row - all around the same time: 9:30pm. At the same time our device loses its network connection, the customer is surfing the web on PC's connected to the same router (although our device is wired to the router and the PC's are connected via wifi). The only way to get our device back on the network is with a hard reboot - sometimes of both the router and our device. Then everything will run fine until 9:30 the following evening. Can anyone think of a reason for such behavior? Maybe the router renews its dhcp connections at the same time every night? Maybe the DSL provider performs some black magic every night? Thanks in advance for any thoughts!
