I subscribe to a webhosting service (running Linux) and am very interested in learning more about how to create and manage various kinds of internet tools - websites, forums, chat rooms, etc. My mid range goal is to have a business online teaching English using a variety of tools.
Now I would like to learn more about internet and pc security - seems to be foundational to having an internet business these days. I have access the following tools: email with pgp keys, ssh connections, proxy servers, vpn, firewalls, antivirus software, a fingerprint reader. I would like to learn about these tools and more. I have tried googling on them and reading but they all start a little bit above my head. I would appreciate it if you could refer me to websites like "security for dummies", security 101, etc. Hopefully I can get the big picture of this field so that I can put the pieces in the right place. I would also appreciate any other tools or ideas that you have.
