Hey Guys
i bought a WD passport essential 500Gb hard disk long time back(Sorry i dont remember when)
It Crashed long time back,idk y!

so i just kept it aside
now my internal harddisk also crashed
i want to use the external harddisk

What do i do?

My computer is not recognising it
And it is recognising other things i insert into that port!

No Sound nothing is coming when i plug it in

if the external crashed years ago I am not sure why you think you can now use it ? sounds like you need to go by some more hard drives and get the machine back running in order to do diagnostics on the failed drives otherwise you don't have much of anything to work with at this point in time.

First make sure you have the correct power adapter to the WD drive that came with it. A wrong power adapter would be the cause. You can also remove the HDD out of the enclosure and attach it to a USB Adapter. once out of the enclosure, you can see if the HDD is clicking, or if it is cold (dead) Or if it spins up and it was just the logic board in the enclosure that failed

I bought it early last year

it is just not responding
the small white light on the side is coming when i plug it in
but i dont think any activity is happening inside

Did you try anything in the quote?
