I live in a canyon. Cell phone signal strength is poor. Is there any kind of consumer device that would suck in the cell phone tower signal and amplify it?

Yes, I use WIFI, but if the power goes out or my ISP's service is down, it would be nice to be able to place cell phone calls.

If you have any kind of cell signal at all, you can get cell boosters. You just need to make sure they work with your carrier, some are single carrier others are multi carrier.

I've never tried it, but have read several times about people who have repurposed old satellite dishes. Remove the transponder and mount something to hold your phone. Aim the dish at the nearest cell tower and it will normally focus the signal enough to allow you to make calls.
