Good day all.

I am a beginner learning MySQL, with the purpose to know about RDMS and further be a DB progammer (SQL programmer)
i have one question.
Now that i know what MySQl is and where it is used. i would like to install it so that i can move on to the more serious tutorials.

To do my practices, i need a Webserver.
Can i just install wampserver (wamserver 2) and use the MySQL component of it or i just need to install the open source MySQl from their website? are these different or itis the same thing?

the wampserver that i have has MySQL 5.5.8 and on the MySQL web they have MySQL 5.5.10 will that be a problem?

Are you wanting a test server to practice on? If so I highly recommend Xampp. It has Apache, PHP, MYSQL and almost everything a webserver has. It's easy to set up and it's free.

Thank you mcorton for your reply, i guess i was just wondering if they actualy do the same things as the practices on the book i am using. Hence i will download wampserver or you can give me the link where i can find xampp.

Thank you mcorton, besides the versions of Apache and PHP that are the same as Wampserver, this has a lot to offer.
