Hey everybody! New to the forums.

I'm having trouble with my Walkman (NWZ-B163). Windows seems to recognise the device, even going as far as to update the drivers, but It simply won't allow me to access the device directory to upload music.

As soon as I plug it in and open up "My Computer", everything freezes up and I'm not able to open the directory. However, as soon as I remove the device, everything returns to normal and I'm able to navigate my documents again.

I'm certain that it's not the device that's at fault, as it worked perfectly on my Netbook (now deceased) only two days ago. I've checked device manager to see if there was a driver issue and it showed the yellow warning sign. I troubleshooted it and eventually reinstalled the drivers, yet the problem continues.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

If there is a yellow !, then the drivers are not installing properly or they are the wrong drivers. After the correct drivers are installed properly, the yellow ! will be gone, then you can test to see if it works.

If Windows isn't installing the correct drivers on its own, you will likely have to manually install them.

I removed and reinstalled the drivers numerous times without any luck. They look like generic drivers, as the Sony website doesn't actually provide any files on the site, other than Sonicstage.

Sonicstage doesn't even recognise the device. What's funny, however, is that Windows Media Player does, and even allows me to view the files and folders. It doesn't, however, allow me to make any changes, delete or install new content. Whenever I attempt to do this, WMP immediatley ceases to respond and I'm forced to exit it. :nonono:
