hey guys im not sure if im posting this in the right place but would it be possible to wake my desktops from sleep on my laptop from another wifi place? my stepdad gets pissed if i leave my computers on all day so i wanted to know if i could wake them up from sleep and put them back to sleep from school so i can use my software homepipe which lets me browse my home computers files (btw really really great software if you have a fast internet connection you should try it :smile the desktops are running windows xp and 7 and the laptop is running ubuntu (i can switch it over to 7 if need be.)

no you cannot. I have tried this many times and just cant do it.

See if this would work, it's Free, you may setup a time when do you want the computer to wake up.

If your motherboard supports it you could use Wake On LAN

WOL on wireless connections isn't currently supported, though there is a new standard that is being developed. I don't think any of the current generation WiFi products have the capability.
