Hi folks,
I've got a very frustrating problem with Windows Vista Business SP1 on my work machine which is causing a lot of trouble.
It all started yesterday when I went to shut down the computer for the weekend. It got to the "Logging Off..." screen and got stuck there. The little circle kept spinning and spinning, but it never got passed "Logging Off". After waiting about 20 minutes I finally held down the button for 5 seconds and powered it down that way.
After this happened and I booted the computer it started running very very slow. Everything which normally opened up quickly started to lag very badly. Even typing things started to lag. I noticed after this incident the boot screen on my computer which normally shows the hard drives status as "Ready" had also changed to "Verify" in yellow. So I ran a full chkdsk which seemed to take forever. And guess what... I was back to normal running fast. The hard drive status in the boot screen even went back to green "Ready". Everything was all well again, reboot after reboot.
Then I go to shut down the computer. And what do you know... "Logging Off..." gets stuck again. And I am now in the same boat.
Before running chkdsk while the computer was running in slow motion it would shut down just fine.
Does anyone have any ideas?
