Vista Connection Problem

So I just bought a new HP laptop, it came with Vista pre-installed I tried connecting to my wireless network I have set up at home and it wont connect. Here is what I have done so far.

1) went to start-network-connect to- found my wireless network- tried to connect-connection failed.

2)manually add connection-added ssid, type of security and encryption both wep- added wep key- connection added- tested connection-connection failed.

3) Disabled Wep security- found wireless network ( now labled as un secure)- tested connection, connection failed.

I have also tried above methods with firewalls off did not work.

type of router- Netgear MR814V2, using 128 bit wep protection
