Cannot access the internet anymore
I'll try to make this brief.
Two days ago I downloaded new updates for my desktop and laptop. I'm running vista premium 32bit on both machines. I had a friend come over and I uninstalled Mcafee and Symantic anti virus on both machines and installed eset antivirus on both machines. I was able to access the internet. I then downloaded ace utilities and ran all the scans on my laptop (HP). I cleaned the temp files, registry, and everthing else on my laptop. I went to bed and the next morning, and did the same thing to my desktop (Gateway) in the morning, then I realized, both my computers stopped accessing the internet. I had the wave broadband guy come out to take a look today, but he said he could ping the websites and my router, but there couldn't access the internet with my IE browser. When I launch IE, it just keeps saying connecting. I can't even open my router settings in IE. So is something is wrong with my brower? I tried to open firefox and it won't even open the program. I'm wondering if ace utilities deleted something in my registry. I'm connected to my network, but on the network map it show that I don't have access to the internet and that something is wrong with my dns. Do you have any ideas on what I could do?
