Lucky lucky me. I'm currently infected with the [email protected] virus.

(ahem, for more info see http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected])

And it is NOT easy to remove. Must be my lucky day. It still lets me work with my computer... at least it did. Now it won't let me open any .exe and I'm going insane. It's slowly klling my computer! It has stopped sending fake pop ups and I'm getting worried. One lovely thing about the virus is it messes up firewalls and my Norton Antivirus... so, yeah, I can't scan my computer either. Help help HELP. I need this thing REMOVED! I don't know how to delete it, and the removal that the above link suggests isn't working.

Melly,

since you tried symantec's removal instructions already, I think
the easiest way now is to get a hold of a clean computer, load
a GOOD AVirus in it, connect to the infected HD and make a
FULL SCAN / REMOVAL of the virus.

You can connect to the HD over the network, or you can open
the case and connect the HD as slave on the clean machine.

Or, you can create a set of bootable floppys with the AV in it,
and run the scan from the flopp's

that's the easiest way, I think.
see what's easier for you.

I use the one Speedo suggested and Panda

Make sure you set them to delete the virus when scanned.

You have to disable System Restore in XP and ME first
