Virus infected

Dell Laptop got a virus this morning. Kapersky said it caught it... went from red to green stating it had resolved the issue. The pc froze and when i restarted, it wont go on. I could see the DELL logo and have pressed F12 and told it to start the internal hhd, but it goes back to a black screen with a flashing cursor on the top left hand side corner.

How bad is this? can i fix this? If anything, I need to save my files. Can someone help me with this please?

do you remember the name of the virus at all and what Kaspersky may have deleted?

Do you have access to another PC?

If so, we can make a boot disk and try and fix this:
