Ok, so one teacher told me one thing and ther other teacher told me another. So which is it?

How much is required?
One guy said: 1.5 times the amount of RAM you have
2nd guy said: 15% of your hard drive

I'm guessing the first one sounds more accurate. Because if I have a 60 GB hard drive and 2 GB of RAM, then 1.5 times is equalled to 3 GB of virtual mem. Whereas, 15% of the hdd is 9 GB!

Also... with RAID....
RAID has to have a separate hdd for the OS alone! Then 2-3 other drives for data. I want to do striped RAID. Can I still install apps on the OS drive and just put files on the other drives? Or does that defeat the purpose of the striped technology?

Rule of thumb is 1.5 X the amount of physical RAM. With the large amount of RAM used in modern PC's it's not really needed.

1.5 is an older standard, generally I go to 2 or 3 times now. A lot depends on how much physical ram you have. 15% of HD is way too much on a modern drive
