I just bought my wife a new LED monitor which has a resolution of 1920X1080. The problem is, I can't get that resolution setting to come up. I loaded the drivers that came with the monitor to no avail. I've looked up other drivers for the Chipset on her CPU... it's an 82915G chipset on her Dell Dimension E310. The closest resolution I can get is 1920X1200 which results in an overrange message on the monitor. Are there any magical steps I can take, or do I take this monitor back? Thanks.

Did you try updating the video drivers? Could be that they're old enough that they didn't include the resolution that you're looking for.

Yup, I tried driver updates from Dell, Intel, and one other place. The first update gave me a few more settings, but nothing like 1920X1080. I think the problem may be the XP OS. I checked several other systems at a store, all of them running Win 7, and they all had the needed setting.

The OS shouldn't be an issue, I've run all the resolutions in xp. Any driver that's from the last two or three years should display 1920x1080, probably earlier too, but it's mainly the last year or two that it's been more prevalent, before that there was a lot more 1920x1200 and 1680x1050 monitors available. Looking again at Dell's drivers, they are fairly old, and may not have the resolution.

Here's a link to your service manual, always a good link to have.

The driver that you tried from intel, is it the 915GV graphics driver from this page?
