Video Lockup

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is a video card issue, a problem with the video camera or something else so I thought I would start here.
I have WinXP Pro SP2 with 384MB RAM and a PIII processor.
The video card is an ATI Rage 128. Yes, it's an old system.
The video camera we are using is an apache USB attached camera.
Here's the problem: the video locks up on Instant Messanger after about 10 minutes of a video call. The video camera works perfectly on my Dell lap top which is only a year old. It has all the latest and greatest for January 2006.
Any suggestions?
