Anyway I'm pretty sure there are a few formats that are smaller than MPEG, and I'm not so experienced in the actual transformation, so someone else'll probably fill that in, but Divx is probably the way to go... it is basically MP4 formatting, I'm not sure why it's called divx though... anyway..HERE is a link to a website where you can pick it up... you can watch and encode divx video with the software included, and there are only a few million tutorials out there on it.. I just don't have vid of any sort so I never felt the need. Good luck let us know if you hit problems!
Oh BTW here's a util calleb Vidomi its supposed to be pretty good and fairly user friendly
