Hi everybody :

I need a new video card. My NVidia GT 610 died. I purchased one from TigerDirect. But, after researching it, I found out it's a "dual width" card. I went to NVidia.com compared the specs to both the GT610 and GT730.GT 730 : 2.7 W x 5.7 L Width : Dual Width.
GT 610 2.7 H x 5.7 L Width : Single Width.
I'm returning the GT 730 back to TigerDirect. I'm sure if they have a 'single-width" card. But, in case, does any know of a seller that carries single-width cards ?
After I installed the GT 730, I noticed that the back panel (where all the connections are made) was too wide for the IO panel.
I checked around a few sites, and they don't carry single-width cards. I think it might near impossible to find one. Much appreciation to anyone who knows of a seller for this type of video card. Thanks in advance.......garystan

JMPC :
Both the old (GT610) and the new (GT730) are single slot card. But the difference is......that the new card is labeled "dual width". Whereas the old card was labeled "single width. The reason the new card won't fit into the IO shield is... the backend of the card (where the connections are) is wider than the old one. The GT730 goes into the PCIe slot with no problem. But, like I said, because of the wider backend, it doesn't fit into the IO shield properly. I checked the specs for both on NVidia.com. Also, I checked newegg.com., this site doesn't give enough information about the cards. And I chatted with a rep on newegg, they just said...."we don't give any tech support in Chat or Telephone. I'd have to contact the main office in California, via snail-mail. garystan

Can you post a picture of the back of your case with the expansion slots are and a picture of the connector end of the card? With a dual slot card you would typically just remove two of the expansion slot covers and install the card that way so that the connectors go out the back of both openings.

JMPC :
I apologize for my mistake. The GT 730 DOES fit. I was installing it incorrectly. Apparently, I was putting that "tab" (on the end of the plate on the back of the card) on the outside of the slot on the back of the computer. Not on the inside.....in the gap between the MB and the inside of the slot frame (where the knock-outs are) . I'd send you a pic, but the only way to do that is with an internet link. Thanks for your support. garystan
