Very odd computer lockup problem.

Hello, first off I am using a barebones system that I build. It's a P4 2.0G, 512 MB RAM. It has worked fine fore a long time until just recently. Here is my probelm. Basically my computer will freeze for no reason at all, unless I'm playing a game like World of Warcraft, or have it atleast running in the background. If i turn my computer on, sometimes it freezes up almost instantly, sometimes it takes a few minutes, but as long as I have World of Warcraft running(haven't tested other games) then it won't freeze. I've used different Memory and I've tried doing a system restore before the problems started, but it didn't help. Has anyone seen or heard of this before? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

pretty strange, your your computer will stall but not on WOW. hmm....if you havent done this yet try scanning your computer for any spywares and viruses and see if you got any.

also check the eventlog for any errors and see if the computer post any errors. if there is an error post it and we will all see what we can do to help you out. to get to the eventlog, right click on my computer -> click on manage -> and click on the eventviewer. then double click applications and look for any "X" marks which incidates an error.

hmmm.......do you have a spare power supply that fits on the barebone to test?
