Hi there.

I have a Netgear router that I haven't had much problems until recently. On the other computer which connects to the Network computer I have always been getting the standard 54mbps. But in the past few days this has regularely decreased to between 5-1mbps. And even then, whilst I'm the the net, it sometimes loses connection altogether.

I have reset the router, and still got the same problem. Don't have any other electrical devices near by. Moved the computer to another spot and still the same problem..

Any ideas?

Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers.

Hello unspoken 1 and welcome to TSF!

Pls. try these suggestions:

1.) If the problem began after you installed new software, check your connection settings to see if they have been changed.

**Open Network Connections by clicking the Start button , clicking Control Panel, clicking Network and Internet, clicking Network and Sharing Center, and then clicking Manage network connections.

**Right-click the connection, and then click Properties. If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2.) Check your router. Because of the new networking features in Windows Vista, some older network routers are not fully compatible with Windows Vista and can cause problems. You can test your router to see whether it is fully compatible with Windows Vista by running the Internet Connectivity Evaluation Tool. Or, for a list of routers that are compatible with Windows Vista, go to the Windows Logo'd Products List website.

3.) Run Malwarebytes and see if it picks up something and resolved the issue=> http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html

4.) or uninstall your wireless driver from Device Manager.
Click on Start =>Control Panel =>Device Manager =>Network Adapters and find your Wireless Adapter from here then select Update Driver software and just follow directions. Then try and see if you're able to connect to the Internet if not try to uninstall the driver then re-install it.

Pls. give me an update if any of these helps.
