I keep getting pop ups at random times without doing anyhing, they are mostly ads for ebay with something to do with the thg im searching on google, now i have google toolba which should block these, and AOL spyware protection which should remove the adware causing this, and on top of all that i have macaffe that sould of dealt with it too! But none of these programs have destroyed the problem and its a nuisne because the pages will just open randomly when im trying to work. Also in the taskbar a red circle with a white exlamation flashing inside it keeps popping up saying i may have a virus, but when i click it it just takes me to a really crappy unofficial looking window about some lame looking virus removal tool, so i think that red circle might be a virus too... also on top of these problems i've had the taskbar dissapear for a minute are come back, so i assume explorer is shutting itself down randomly for no reason... all these problems are a nuisance and none of the programs i use seem to solve them... i need help urgently cos they have gone beyond "nuisance" to flat out "f*** off i just want to get my work and casual internet surfing done!" Excuse the language but that's how annoying it is.

You need a firewall too don't forget. A Firewall and a HOSTS file will be the main blocker of ads and such related sites. If you keep getting ads as such, you obviously have a leak hole somewhere in the security setup or configurations.

Hi razthehedgehog...

as Dai has just suggested, it will be a good idea to post your Hijack This log file in the appropriate section so one of our analysts can advise you further. Please read through this thread first as it explains the steps to take before posting the log.

Hope that helps :)

The link includes a link to download Hijack This which is ina selft-extrating archive. All you need to do is run it, select to Perform a system scan and save a log file. When it's done, notepad should open up with the log, all you need to do is cut n paste the contents into a new thread on the HJT forum.
