We have some Compaq Deskpro EN and I am having trouble with one in particular. The message I am receiving is :
Dectected Drive C doesn't contain a valid Fat or Fat 32 partition
Then it gives me 3 possible solutions: 1) FDisk 2) Using the startup disk for 3rd party vendors (which we don't use) 3) Possible Virus (can't get to any virus scans to check this one out.

What could have caused this? It was up and running on Friday and was shut down correctly (as per employee's word!)

Thanks for any help, I really don't want to FDisk, b/c I don't know what if anything employee has on her hard drive.

Find the MFG of the hard drive and run thier diags on boot up...if that doesnt work grab the diags from www.ontrack.com

Buy Nortons AV 2002 (others might too but I know Nortons does) it is a bootable CD and will run a virus check before loading anything else

HATE SYMANTEC ...On the coprate level...the program is buggy and the TECH support sucks...

For coprate protection check out www.antivirus.com

no onto the problem...NAV 2002 (where sysmantec should stay...they do this right!!) the desktop version is a bootable CD...see if disk three is corrupt...can you coppy it to a blank disk???

Did you check the intregrity of the drive...if the drive is shot then checking for a virus is a waste of time

You can go here and download the free version.

Load it onto another machine and register it to get a serial number.

Make a Rescue disk and run it on the suspect machine.
