Hello,
I have a Sony Vaio, only about a year old...it's not getting any power. The connector that plugs into the laptop is really loose, and doesn't snap in firmly like it should, you can blow on it pretty much and it will fall out. So, I'm guessing that the connector on the laptop is loose, has anyone else had this problem on a laptop?
My friend brought it to bestbuy (it's actually hers, and was before I met her) and they told her the motherboard would need to be replaced.

hi imho the repair shop is where to look for help as this is a laptop it is a long and tedious task to work through all the parts that need to be dismantled and if your lucky enough to effect a repair you then have to reassemble it all in the correct order this is for an experienced tech and not for some one to take on as a first time project please do not be offended by what iam saying iam just trying to save you a lot of time and serious frustration

hi since you had not menioned any knowledge i did not presume it. ok so you know the script get the service manual from sony and work away just watch the screws if memory serves there are a couple that are a little longer than the rest and need to be put back in the exact same place or it will bend the board causing a whole new set of issue.goodluck hope it is an easy fix

So, I cracked it open.... had an extremely difficult time trying to pry it open after I got all the screws off..ended up forcing it and snapping something, and now having an even harder time trying to put it back together.. the screw holes aren't lining up. Horrible laptop to work on, they couldn't make it any harder.
Anyway.. before I opened it up, it fully charges if I carefully snug the power connecter in so it doesn't fall out... and I was in windows (fresh install of windows 7) for a good 10 mins or so, then it just shuts off. So, when it works it works, but it keeps randomly shutting off.....
