Welcome to TSF....

What is the extension of the image that you are trying to open?

Where did you get it from?

From the error message it means that the image is either not one that is supported by windows or there is no program associated with the extension.

Hi it was saying that the application or DLL in C:\WINDOWS\Fonts\... is not a valid windows images? But i can locate the files mention?
Interesting - my windows\fonts directory has no .dll files at all, only .ttf and
a few .fon files. Looks like you may have a malware issue. What spyware are you using?
I use spybot and/or threatfire by www.pctools.com and it might be worth a try to sweep
i tried sweeping but the problem still there... Anyother possible ways can be solved thks so much...
You definitely have some sort of malware so take the steps noted at the top of this forum about spyware and pop-ups and go from there.
texas666 is spot on - there should not be any .dll files in your fonts folder.

Either follow the link at the top of the page or this one

If you cannot complete any of the Steps, simply move on to the next one - remember to let the Analyst know about this when you post your logs.

Do not post your logs back in this thread - follow the guidance in the above link!

Please note that the Security Forum is always busy, so I would ask for your patience while waiting for a reply.
I tried some of the solutions mention like doing a sfc /scannow from the XP disc but still its not working.. Im thinking of doing a repair install of XP but will that remove all my install programs & applications ? thks so much for helping
Have you tried booting up in safe mode and deleting those mentioned dll files from the windows\font directory. They might be leftovers from a worm/virus that was partially removed earlier by your AV software.

And as for the answer to your re-install question, the repair option should leave your programs and data alone but fixes and service packs would be gone and have to be re-installed. Backup your data, documents, spreadsheets, etc., to cd/dvd first though just to be safe. Programs can always be re-installed easily but not your personal data
Based on the random filenames showing in the image you posted, I would suggest you are infected with Vundo - either fully or partially. And Vundo rarely travels alone...
Hi all, i've done a repair install but still it cant seem to solve the problems... Repair install fixes system files so that means system files might be wrking fine? Maybe i will do a virus scan again
