Hi,

I was having some troubles with XP Home Edition, so I completely reinstalled it. I used the same user name (Ben) when I set up XP the second time, but it created a new file root (Ben.MyComputer as opposed to the original Ben) and uses that has my home path. I tried simply renaming Ben to Ben.MyComputer, but no go. How can I change my account to use the old directories?

Thanks,
Ben

A similar problem was just asked on this thread.

You didn't format the drive before you reinstalled. You just ended up installing XP over XP. I would suggest you boot from your XP CD, delete the XP partition, format the unpartitioned space as NTFS, and install a fresh copy of XP.

I saw that thread, but I'm not sure it's the same problem. It seems like that person't entire file directory was screwed up - mine is still in tact, I just want to change the home directory for the administrator.
