USB Drivers for Gigabyte GA-Z97M-D3H

Hello, I built this system a year ago and I have always noticed that the USB 3.0 ports on the front of the case seem slow. So I'm thinking that I didn't install the drivers right or something.

So can I look at the device manager and see if I need to reinstall some drivers? How can I tell if it's the Gigabyte drivers or the chipset ini files that I missed?

As I remember if I look at the device manager under Universal Serial Bus Controllers I should see a list of descriptive names and not "Generic USB Hub" if my drivers are installed correctly.

I have included a screen shot of my Device Manager.

Thanks

You have no yellow flags in the Device Manager and you have the USB eXtensible host controller. Which means your USB 3.0 driver is installed and working correctly. Generic USB Hub is correct and is the driver in all USB slots on all motherboards.
It won't hurt to go to the Gigabyte Driver site GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 1150 - GA-Z97M-D3H (rev. 1.1) and download the Chipset and USB 3.0 driver for your board.
Be aware that USB ports on the front of the case connect via a cable to the motherboard, and USB ports on the back are soldered to the motherboard and the back ones will have stronger power and connection because of this

That's normal, and you can see the USB3 controller listed in your screenshot.

It's not uncommon for front panel ports to be a little slower than the rear ports (cabling and interference vs a direct MB connection). The only way to know if they are slow, would be to test both (front and rear) and compare the speeds.

Also, unless the front ports are actually connected to a USB3 header on the motherboard, they aren't running at USB3 speeds.
