I recently turned my laptop on and it just didnt boot so I put the recovery CD and went to reformat the hard drive but didnt work as it went straight to finilizing reocvery when it hadnt done anything. Then now it says NTDL required or something and will not load windows in safe mode or anything

Now try the recovery again.
If it still does not work, we will walk you through how to check the hard drive.

That would be good but cannot even get on to windows

Unfortunately I have tried this but it says it is not a bootable Disk in drive or something, I did everything it said on the webpage

Change the boot order in BIOS such that the optical drive CD or DVD is the first device in th eboot order. Before HD, floppy, USB or Network.

Now try boting from the recovery CD.

If you're having trouble creating a boot disk, ultimatebootcd.has active kill disk on it, plus alot more. Step by step instructions on creating the bootable disk are on the site using several different burning programs
