Can I use my brothers WinXP OEM Dell CD to upgrame my Dell PIII T-450 Dimension PC? I have 256 meg of RAM.

I see to get a lot of differing opinions on this. Some say this OEM CD will work and some say it will not.

Now... if it definitly won't work, can I just go and purchase a WinXP upgrade CD from a place like Best Buys or Staples and use that? Will all of my files and folders still be intact?

Thank you

Hi,

The legalities of it are that you should not use your brother's disk for your computer. When you buy an OS disk, it is for the one computer that you are using. It is not considered legal to share that disk or to have it on more than one computer. YOu really need to go buy your own copy and follow the law.
