Upgrading Question

1166 Views 3 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  DJ Specs
I currently have a Celeron 433mhz, running 98. I am not sure about my current RAM amount but I was going to upgrade my computer to a P3 @ 933 mhz, and upgrade my RAM with a 256 upgrade. My question is: Should I expect any problems and/or is this feasible. I am not a novice but this is my first upgrade for my computer that was actually made for me by my father.

Thanks for the help from a newbie to the forum!

The one thing you should check is depending on the age of the motherboard, it might not support that high of a speed Pentium III. Check in your bios to see how high it goes.
Where exactly can I check that besides my paper work for my computer, or is that the only place?

Thanks for the help
To get into the bios, first reboot. Just as soon as the dos like screen appears you can start hitting F10 until it gives you the bios screen. Now look around in there for a heading that will have the processsor listed, it should show its current speed, and will have a menu that you enter that will show other speeds. Take note of the highest.
Also dont change any settings in there anywhere, it could cause a problem with your computer. If your worried, dont do it.
