I am trying to solve my upgrading issue without buying Windows 10 Home, but have not succeeded in finding the solution yet. Anyone with experiences or good ideas?

Hi,

This thread is from June last year but I should think the position remains the same.

Some Windows editions are not eligible for the free Windows 10 upgrade. These include Windows RT/RT 8.1, Windows 7 Enterprise and Windows 8/8.1 Enterprise. The Enterprise editions are geared toward large organizations, which typically have their own licensing agreements with Microsoft.
Which edition of Windows 10 will you get for free? - CNET

Looks like you may be out of luck.

Did your system come new with Windows 7 Enterprise (I doubt that it did unless you got it from work or school)?

If you bought the system new and it had Windows 7 Home Premium or Ultimate edition on it, contact the system manufacturer and obtain Windows replacement media so that you can reinstall Windows 7, then upgrade to Windows 10.

Regards. . .

The laptop came with win7 Enterprise. It has been my work laptop. Good idea perhaps to try to "downgrade" before upgrading. I once before did install Windows 10 on a laptop with Win7 Enterprise and it works quite well, but refuses to let go of the connections to the original business server and the ISP.

Create a Local User account with Admin rights on the computer, restart and boot in as the Local user you created, then Leave the Domain of your business. (eg) right click Computer/Properties/Computer Name/Change Settings, and choose Workgroup. Be sure you can log in as the local user as you will no longer be able to login as the Domain user once you leave the Domain and restart your computer. You will not be able to login to your work domain again either unless you join the Domain again.
When you upgrade a computer from 7, 8, 8.1 to 10, the free upgrade upgrades you to whatever version you had previously. So you cannot upgrade Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Home, it would be Home for Home and Pro for Pro. You cannot do a free upgrade with Enterprise or Ultimate 7 to Windows 10. You must purchase it or use the Enterprise edition that is supplied to your work place.
