Hey guys, i'm planning to upgrade a few parts of my tower but I need a few opinions on the parts i've picked out and any other suggestions you may have. Here is my current system specs.

AMD Athlon64 FX 55
Abit nforce4 SLi Socket 939 motherboard
2GB Kingston HyperX ddr 333 (four 512mb modules)
BFG Tech Geforce 8800gtx 768mb
Antec 500watt Smartpower psu
Sound Blaster Audigy 2

Basically 3 parts need to go....the processor, the motherboard and the outdated ddr 333 ram. The primary use for this system is gaming, I mean I use the internet and pretty much do everything anyone else would do with their PC but I primarily use it for gaming so i'm looking for the best "bang for my buck" parts available. I just want the newest of the new. I don't want to have to worry about upgrading for at least a few years. I want to be able to play every game on the market, no matter what the system requirements....graphics maxed...without any slowdown at all.

My video card is fine obviously....but the rest of the system is just getting too outdated and can't keep up with the video card....I know this because on some newer games I still get slowdown with the settings cranked up....even with an 8800gtx. Here are some links to the parts i'm looking at.

For the motherboard

And for the Processor

OR

And for memory

So basically I want to make the jump to a high end (newer) gaming CPU and DDR2 memory, but I have a few questions.

Is DDR2 going to be replaced anytime soon with DDR3 or has it been already and if so how long will it be before DDR3 is the new standard?

How much of a difference is there over the 800/1066 FSB and 1066/1333 FSB processors? I can't seem to find a decent motherboard that uses the newer 1333 FSB Core 2 Duo's that also supports SLi....I need the SLi support (i'm sticking with either abit, Asus or DFI as those are the best brands IMO)

And last question....why is there a significant price difference between the E6600 and E6700 conroe cpu's over the E6750 and E6850? The E6750 is a year newer, has a higher clockspeed, and has the 1333mhz FSB over the 1066 yet the older E6600/6700's are about $50-100 more expensive....why?

I would rather have the E6750 conroe then the E6600 version as it is newer but like I said I can't seem to find a decent motherboard that supports the 1333mhz FSB and all the other features I need.

And this is probably a stupid question but can I still use the E6750 Core2 Duo 1333 version on the 1066 board?

My budget is between 450-500 dollars....so I can't get too crazy.

Any opinions, suggestions will help. Thanks guys.

Nice, but that board is a little out of my price range....thinking between 120-140 $$ for the motherboard at most.
