Gateway, 64 bit desktop computer. I upgraded from Vista Home Premium to Win7 Home Premium and all seems to be working fine but.....
When left unattended for a while (1 hour or so) and I try to use the computer, first the mouse pointer will point but will not open a program or do anything other than move. Second after a few seconds the mouse pointer freezes and the computer will do anything. The keyboard is non functional also. I can't open task manager and have to reboot the computer with the power switch.
I have the power options set to maximum performance with the hibernation and sleep to never occur.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried leaving it to "unfreeze" for several minutes? It sometimes helps.

Yes, I have waited several minutes and on occasion it will "unfreeze" but on other occasions after 10 minutes nothing. I don't think any wait over a few seconds is correct and certainly not acceptable.
