I have an old compaq 5002us desktop that has an 800mhz duron cpu, I bought a 1.3 processor. I took out the old one and put in the 1.3 and the computer runs but nothing ever comes up on the screen. I put the old one back in and it works fine. they look identical and all the pins are the same, why will it not work?

The CPU is probably not compatible with the Mobo/Bios.
OEM PC's use Mobo/Bios made for them and it can be very difficult to determine what CPU's are/are not compatible. Thge PC manufacturer is the most reliable source for that info.
