Hello, first time poster.

My wifes computer (asus A7V8X MB)was running raid 1 with the main hard drive being an 80g IDE and then she installed a second hard drive 160g SATA as the back up. She decided she needed more space and went and bought an identical 160g SATA hard drive. She removed the 80 and moved the 160 up to master then installed the 2nd 160. Hard drives have mirrored but only see 80g. When you boot into windows , it shuts down and says windows is shutting down to prevent damage. Any help on how to fix this would be appreciated.

It will only see 80GB because that is what it was initially partitioned as. To properly enlarge the partition, you should back up your data, recreate your RAID array and reinstall the OS and apps. Another way would be to create a RAID array with the 2 160GB drives then "clone" your exiting OS to the new drives.
