Hi
I have a dell inspiron 2650, bios a13, Windows XP Home, and a brand new Adaptec PCMCIA FireWire card (3 Firewire slots). For some reason the FireWire will not work properly. How do I know what drives to update? Can there be other reasons why it will not work.

I have the same laptop with Win XP Home and recently purchased a PCMCIA Belkin USB 2.0 card. I had trouble installing it even though it seemed like all the drivers were installed. What was happening was Windows was not choosing the correct driver for the device. It kept replacing it with its own driver. So try reinstalling the driver and if there is a drop down box make sure it states that it's for the Adaptec Firewire card specifically.

Please let us know if this helps resolve the issue or if you need further assistance. I was able to call Belkin and was helped promptly... you may consider calling Adaptec if this doesn't work. :sayyes:
