Hi,

I have Acer 5611 WLMI Laptop, Intel Core Duo, T2050, 1.66GHz (FSB: 533MHz), 15.4TFT, WXGA Crystal Brite, 1024MB DDR II RAM (2x 512), 80GB (5400rpm) HDD, Super Multi DVD-RW Double Layer, 6-cell Lion, 56K modem, Wired & Wireless Lan 802.11a/b/g, 128MB shared Grafics.

I wish to upgrade the memory of my laptop & I think my laptop uses - 200 Pin 1.8v DDR2 PC2-5300 SoDimm Ram.

I wish to put 2+2 GB Rams on my laptop but I have been told that if I upgrade my laptop with 4GB Rams than my laptop will show 4 GB Rams as 3 or 3.5 GB because its capacity is only that much. Is it true & if yes than would you please let me know if 3GB DDR2 Rams can work on my laptop. (in the pair of 2GB+1GB).

Can my laptop run window 7 after upgrade to 2gb / 4gb RAM. To run window 7, which one is recommended 2GB or 4GB RAM?

Thanks for your all the help in the regard.

I'm running Win7 on this laptop with 1.5gig just fine, it depends on the programs you run.

Yes you can use a 2 + 1 gig configuration but it may or may not run in dual channel mode, if you mainly use the laptop for web and office type apps 2 gigs 2 x 1gig sticks should be plenty.
