Hi,

So I have this:

motherboard : ga-g33m-ds2r
cpu : core2duo e6600 @ 2.4ghz
3d card : gigabyte 8600gts
ram : 2 x 1gb Apacer 800mhz
psu : Some 500w that came with a rather crappy black case...

So when i use my pc everyday for gaming and media and so on, it works fine. But recently some **** started happening. At times, doesn't matter wether i am playing a game, watching a movie, or burning a dvd, my pc would freeze. No blue screen, no nothing. Just a rock solid freeze. control alt delete doesn't work. Nothing works. The only thing i can do is push the reset button.

It happened a few times that it would freeze like that 5 times in a row or more, just after i entered windows (btw Vista Ultimate x86) or while windows is loading or even in the bios or during the post.

But then again it could work fine for a week without no problems.

I am considering buying a gigabyte odin 550w GT. in a review i saw that it as 4 connectors for pheriphals. Is that for 4x Sata? what about molex? Is that power supply worth all that money?

Ad finally could the power supply be the source of the problem??

I tested my watt usage and it is around 100 - 160 watt. It seems low to me, but then again i don't know much...

Why do i need a 650W ? Isn't te 550 enough? ANd i'm thinking of getting a 8800GT

you can usually find the 650 out on special at one of the sites cheaper than the 550
and it allows room for future upgrades

more than likely the ones that come with cases are usually poor quality
we always recommend buying the psu and case as seperate items
