My PC totaly crashed yesterday. So I shut everything off untill I came home(I was in a middle of a few dowlnoads, nothing to crazy, just some race videos, and I had a I-Explorer up), then I tried to start it up. Every time it came back on it said the usual: Windows did not start up properly, if this problem persists(the usual). So I tried safe mode, it would not run at all(I tried this a few times). So I tried to reload the opperating system. The first time it just popped up with the same message, so I tried again and it actualy worked. Now everything seems to be ok. This is a almost 5 year old Gateway with a 1.3G Smeleron. Did it actualy take a dump? This is kind of my primary computer, sort of, it's my only PC(My laptop is far superior). But I like the old Gateway.

Anyone any Idea on what happened.

Thanks in advance.

P.S. This is all on XP Home

You need to the boot the PC using ur XP cd and enter the recovery console. Once there at the prompt type chkdsk /r. This will run for a while and may restart at times. All normal. It should be fine once it's complete.
