I've resently read how to unlock and XP processor and that it will make it run faster. I just would like to know what it actually does to the processor, what are the risks, and why (if it runs faster) does AMD not just do this to them all to make them faster?

Also another stupid question. What is RAID all about? Do you need a special harddrive for it? and does it have something to do with SCSI?
Thanks for any info. I love this forum:D

Raid is about many things (depending on which raid you're using)

as far as the processor goes. It Modifies the SPD (which reports to the bios it's speed/voltage/bus/) so the bios will automatically detect it as a higher-end processor

Note doing this will void your processor warranty. If your Cmos setup has the option to change the clock/bus speed/multiplier yourself, I don't suggest unlocking it
