Unknown movie problem

Ok did't see a better place to put this so I'll put it here. Well movies on my computer won't play right, the audio is fine but the video is messed up. THe quality just sucks and it appears like the contrast is to high or something. I have all the updated drivers for my video card, I have the right codecs to play the files on my computer. I know that because i have the same codecs installed on my upstairs computer as i do on this one and the videos play fine. So ya I have no idea what the problem is. Also it does this with all kinds of video like wmv, ogg and I've tried it on winamp, windows media player 10, and some vlc one. any help woudl be appreciated.
