I seem to be having connection issues when attempting to play particular online games and use a third party VOIP program at the same time. For example, if I am playing a game such as Counterstrike: Source, holding my mic button down on ventrilo will cause my ms to shoot up from around 60ms to 800ms+ and stay that way until I let go of it. Once I release my mic button it then goes back down to normal and there are no further issues, so long as I do not try to talk on ventrilo again.

The same thing happens with Skype, whereby if I am in a call (regardless of whether I am hosting it or not) my ping will remain sky-high until I drop the call, and upon doing so will fall right back down. Also note that the people I am talking to can hear me perfectly fine, and that it's purely the game I am currently running that will begin to lag out. Another point that I feel the need to mention is that if I hold down my mic button on ventrilo and check my connection to the server I want to join, the ping seems perfectly acceptable. It's when I'm actually in-game and on the server itself that ventrilo and skype seem to affect my connection.

This issue persists over quite a few other games such as Team Fortress 2 and DayZ, but does not affect all of them. League of Legends and Garry's Mod both seem to be unaffected by this issue, as I am freely able to hold Skype calls and talk over ventrilo whilst retaining my normal ping. In-game microphone use is also fine and provides no detrimental effects to my in-game connection (with DayZ being the exception to this).

I've talked with my ISP about this and they have repeatedly tried to solve this issue (they are still currently trying to do so), but I was hoping that someone here may be able to shed some light on what the issue may be and whether it is something I need to fix myself.

Hi and welcome to TSF!

I suspect the issue is that you are running out of bandwidth to use that many online applications at the same time. Do a bandwidth test of your connection by going to Pcpitstop. Try both upload and download connections. Also, try a regular connection speedtest by going to Speedtest.net.
