Hi friends, My system is suddenly unexpected off and I am sure it is not the shutdown. 3 months back at first when I am listening the songs in windows media player it was suddenly off and I immediately push the CPU power button it was not started. When I switch off the power supply from switch board and then switch on then only my PC starts working. It was repeated again two more times in the short span of 1 month. Then later I was not used the PC for 4 days. On the next day it was started normally and this problem repeats again after the two minutes of windows logging. Then I was went to my system's manufacturer he found that there is a problem with the MOTHER BORD fit on my CPU and it was serviced. After receiving my MOTHER BOARD it works normally only 2days and the problem arises again. and then after I am working with 1 month with windows vista and I am not used for 2 weeks and this problem arises again. Presently I am facing this problem. If you have any idea about my problem please reply me at [email protected]

Check your BIOS Settings and see if it has a "health" page that displays things like CPU temp, voltages, fan speeds, etc.

Some motherboard have this, others do not.

The reason I ask is it sounds like a BIOS shutdown due to some issue that could damage your system (like a CPU overtemp) or a voltage dropping below specs, etc.

You may want to consider downloading the free version of HWMonitor (note page screenshot).

The download IS the application, you just copy it to a folder of your choice (like C:\Program Files\HWMonitor) then create a shortcut to run it.

NOTE: HWMonitor ONLY works if your motherboard is using Industry Standard sensors.

When you are at the desktop, run HWMonitor and watch what is happening. Leave it running for several hours (note how it tracks high/low & current).

Look for temps that constantly increase, voltages that are too low (example; +5v reads +4.2v, much too low), fan speeds (especially your CPU fan).

You can open your system and ensure the CPU fan runs when you turn the system ON. While you have the system open, BEFORE YOU TURN IT ON, consider cleaning the CPU fan of dust/dirt. Blow it out, do not vacuum, then use a DRY Q-Tip to wipe what will not blow out from the fan blades.
