Unclear on Email

Hello all,

can somebody please clarify this, or give me some help as i am having a nightmare understanding it.

I have a company with 2 email accounts [email protected]
and [email protected]. these accounts are being hosted by a company called host ireland in ireland. And the domain thecompany.ie was bought there.

i want to move to hosted Gmail.

from here i have no idea.

a) does host ireland keep charging us for the domain and hosting, and mail is pointed to gmail?

b) Do i have to cancel the domain with host ireland and re-register it with Gmail?

i just spoke to host ireland who says that i need to add an mx record to point to gmail...but surely i dont have to pay both crowds?

any info please

talk to Gmail. They will have all the answers.

Normally you would pay a different isp [gmail] to do your domain and email hosting. You would not use both
well the guy i deal with at gmail seems quite useless...just emails me info back that is like pages and pages...and sends me in circles...anyway...thanks for the reply
Hi Jonin,

Definitely Yes...
a) does host ireland keep charging us for the domain and hosting, and mail is pointed to gmail?
You may keep host ireland to host your Domain and cancel the website and email hosting and use Gmail as your Web and Email Provider
b) Do i have to cancel the domain with host ireland and re-register it with Gmail?
I've done the above method but I find it convenient to have one company to do everything. Have you looked at godaddy.com? You may move your existing Domain from host ireland to godaddy and they will also Host your email and website.

Just my thoughts, others may have a different feedback than mine.
