I recently reformatted my primary 80G HD and did a full reinstall of WinXP Home. My 20G 2nd HD was previously formatted NTFS and has backup and other files from my previous WinXP installation. However, the 2nd HD does not show up with a letter. Under Disk Management, it displays as Unallocated. When I right-click the HD, I get the New Partition Wizard.
If I partition this HD, will I lose all of the data? If so, is there a way to retreive the data before it is partitioned?

Partitioning will cause you to lose all your data. It kinda looks like you have already wiped it though.

There are programs out there that you might be able to recover the data with. Unfortuantly I know of none off hand.

Maybe someone else can help you out with that.

You could try something like OnTrack Easy Recovery Pro. I believe you can download an evaluation one that will tell you what you may be able to recover, I've never used it myself. It's also not cheap, but if the data is valuable...
