Unable to view hidden files and folders

Hi,

I am using Windows xp pro (sp2). I am unable to view hidden folders.I even checked show all hidden folders under tools and also i did CheckedValue 1 in registry(hkey_local_user/..../hidden/showall).but problem is when I restart or come out of registry it again reverts back to 0.


In one particular post I had seen punol saying that he has get rid of this problem.. If punol you are reading this kindly help me out as I have my important files hidden

Do a search in the folder and when its complete click "no refine search by showing hidden folders".
click on the link below and downlaod and extract the file, then double click on it

I tried the way you suggested. But it generates an error. It says
"CheckedValue is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.
The system cannot find the path specified
Press any key to continue"

This error was generated on dos prompt


The message on windows error says that "the unable to make changes in the registry "

what security programs do you have?

so you have spybot installed?

Yes I am admin. No sptbot is installed
Have you try this:
at command prompt just type
dir /ah
if the list is too long u can use
dir /ah/p/w
sorry i dont get what you mean is spybot installed?

also what security programs do you have?
You porbably should install spybot.
