Hi,

When i switch on my computer i get the screen with

"Safe Mode
Last Good Known Configeration
Start Windows Normally .etc "

If i press safe mode;
it will reach mup.sys (or something like that) and go no further.

If i press Last Good Known Configeration / Start Windows Normally;

it gets to Windows XP loading screen with the blue loading bar and will stay on that screen for eternity if i left it long enough :sigh:

Thanks, Danny. :pray:

Hello and Welcome to TSF,

You wouldnt necessarily need your xp disc for doing a repair install?

maybe you can borrow one from a friend or family?

if so try doing a repair install

enter bios F1, F2, F10, delete (varies on different pc`s)

set boot order to:
cd rom first
floppy drive
harddrive
save and exit bios

boot from the xp disc, press enter when prompted to boot from cd
the frist screen it stops on, do not choose R yet.
choose a full install of xp (as if normally you are going to setup xp again)
now the second it stops on...choices are I think
would you like to setup xp now?
Choose "R" repair xp window installation - choose this one
now this shouldnt cause any changes to your personal files or data, everything should be the way it is as before, the things that change in doing a repair install is:
system files and other files pertaining to the operating system only.
they are just replaced with the original files in xp again is all.

or

1. Boot up from xp disc and enter recovery console when it gives you the option by
pressing R.

2. Next, you'll see a prompt to enter a number corresponding to the Windows XP
installation that you need to repair. Enter "1" and then supply your Administrator password.

3. In recovery console type: chkdsk /r or you can try this command: chkdsk c: /p

Definition - Scans your hard drive and attempts to repair any problems found.
